So You Want to Write a Novel

I can't believe I didn't write this myself.

"How many editors do you think Random House will assign to my novel?"
"Minus 13."

I did write the video script, so I thank you for posting it! And you posted my favorite line, too, about how many editors RH would assign to his book.

Rest assured I channeled every crazy story/tip/bit of advice I've learned here and other blogs in coming up with the script.

Thanks,
David

Too true and too funny...I have a friend who keeps telling me he is going to live off the royalties of his unfinished unpublished novel...no matter what I tell him I can't change his mind...

Wonderful... the naked, ugly truth!
Every aspiring writer should watch this video.

This made my entire week

"My throat is starting to close up." Classic.

That channelled some of the rage I feel whenever people ask me why I bother to write and edit every night when any old crap gets published nowadays. Surely it can't be that hard! *lol*

I'm so happy this video has gone viral. I laugh so hard when I watch it that I have to pause the video to catch my breath.

Applicable to some other creative fields esp. film.

Owww, owww, ouch! I'm laughing so hard it hurts.

"Do you want to be my ghostwriter for 10%?"

That's a justification for homicide!

My agent shared this one with me. OMG, hilarious and so dead on. Major applause for getting literally every delusional comment in there! Bravo! Bravo!

I love this! Funny and tragic at the same time. Kudos to any writer who makes it through that & gets a novel published. I hope to make it through to the other side eventually. Wish me luck,

omg I think I peed a little. I am laughing so hard. That was so perfect and completely to the point. I made my husband watch it because he came to me the other day, wanting to write a book. That was the perfect reminder of all the things I went through to get my books out there. Thank you so much for that.

I like how earnest the character is.

There has not been a new post in months. Are you out of gas? Or something more ominous. You are missed.

Ten percent!

I'ma have to watch this one a couple more times. Thanks for that!

Good idea about writing several novels at once. I need more folders now.

Oh man!! I actually KNOW newbie writers who have said such things. God help us all!!

I take the fact I consider the wannabe writer an idiot as proof that I have at least a chance.

I can't believe it got him an agent but it did. Apparently his queries weren't up to speed.

Why use steak knives? Horseshoes work just fine.

Too many delusional writers out there to count. The moral lesson: don't quit your day job for a creative pursuit.
